Positive comments on the ITER-DTT Collaboration Meeting held last 10 October

Also in the light of attendance data (almost 80 participants connected remotely, half from the ITER Organization and half from DTT) and subsequent scientific discussions, numerous positive evaluations emerged from both ITER and DTT sides, confirming the interest of the collaboration.
Among these, Richard Pitts (Leader of the Experiments and Plasma Operation Section inside the ITER Science Division) stated:
 

"What I discovered during the day spent with the delegation is the really very extensive similarity between the DTT and ITER facilities and the extremely broad overlap between the respective engineering aspects and scientific programmatic aims. In effect, if DTT operates as planned, it becomes, de facto, a testbed for ITER operation, especially in our non-active phases, and could and should be a platform on which the young generation of scientists and engineers who will operate ITER can gain very solid experience on a number of systems. If DTT also adopts the architecture and methodology of the ITER Integrated Modelling Analysis Suite, which we discussed during the visit, the machine also becomes a testbed for the plasma pulse design simulators and modelling workflows ITER is developing."
