Piero Martin, Full Professor at the University of Padova (Italy) and coordinator of the Physics Group of the DTT project, has been selected by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei as a seconded professor at the Beniamino Segre Interdisciplinary Center of the Academy, for the three-year period 2023/24 -2025/26.

The Center, established by the Italian law L.593/77, promotes interdisciplinary research to be carried out with the contribution of the Members of the Academy and seconded teachers. The project assigned to Prof. Martin is entitled "Controlled thermonuclear fusion: science, scenarios and ethics".

This is a very prestigious appointment as the Accademia dei Lincei, the oldest scientific Academy in the world, plays several roles of great importance, starting from cultural and scientific consultancy for the President of the Italian Republic.

The designation confirms the quality of Piero Martin's research and also acknowledges his commitment to the training of young people and scientific dissemination. It also confirms the strategic importance of Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion for future energy scenarios and, in this context, the crucial role of the DTT scientific mission.
