New DTT high voltage electrical connection approved

The DTT electrical power demand (up to 300 MVA) requires an upgrade of the connection of ENEA Research Centre in Frascati to the national transmission grid.

To fulfill the new demand, Terna, the Italian Transmission System Operator (TSO), designed a new connection of ENEA Labs to the 380-kV line in the “Roma Est” substation, about 40 km long.

The design is based on three 150-kV underground power lines with highly reliable, efficient, and sustainable insulation technology.

The new 150-kV switching substations in Frascati will be strongly interconnected in order to improve the system reliability.

The Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has issued the decree authorizing Terna to carry out the project with financial coverage of 70 M€.
