EUROfusion Delegation visits ENEA and DTT

A delegation from EUROfusion - Gianfranco Federici, EUROfusion Programme Manager, Fabio Villone former Chair of STAC (Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee) and of Department of Electric Engineering and Information Technology of University of Naples Federico II and Rudolph Neu Project Leader WP-DTT - visited ENEA laboratories in Frascati as part of the monitoring activities for the Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT) project. The visit confirms the strong collaboration with the EUROfusion consortium which not only funds the DTT project but has also made a crucial contribution to the engineering development of the divertor and its interfaced systems. Its financial support extends to the construction of the divertor itself.

During the meeting, ENEA and DTT managers provided EUROfusion delegation with an update on the construction progress of the facility. The visit allowed for a first-hand look at the significant advancements and reaffirmed the strategic value of DTT, which stands out as the only superconducting fusion device currently under construction in Europe, apart from the ITER project.

EUROfusion delegation’s visit underscores once more the importance of DTT in the European fusion research landscape, solidifying its status as a leading project for studying the technologies to be used in next-generation reactors.
