DTT in the Spotlight at Expo Osaka 2025

The Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT), a major research infrastructure to be built in Frascati with the aim of studying innovative technological solutions for nuclear fusion, was featured at the event “Nuclear Fusion, Hydrogen, and Digitalization for the Energy Transition: Best Practices of Collaboration between Italy and Japan,” organized by ENEA at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 in Osaka.

During the event, attended by representatives from institutions as well as the scientific and industrial sectors, a scale model of the DTT was presented. The initiative provided an opportunity to showcase the contribution that Italian research can offer to the energy transition, and demonstrated how nuclear fusion represents one of the pathways toward a sustainable future.

On the sidelines of the event, the President of DTT, Prof. Francesco Romanelli, claimed:

"The participation of the DTT – Divertor Tokamak Test – project in the event organized by ENEA at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 in Osaka was a highly significant moment for the scientific community. The international audience had the opportunity to see the DTT scale model up close. The goal is to convey the value of research that looks to the future of clean energy through nuclear fusion, and Italy can play a leading role in this challenge. Expo provided the occasion to strengthen dialogue with scientific and industrial stakeholders, particularly Japanese and international ones, and to open new prospects for collaboration on crucial technological aspects. I wish to thank ENEA, the Italian Expo Commission, Ambassador Mario Andrea Vattani, the institutions involved, and all the researchers who made this initiative possible. The event demonstrated that DTT is not only a scientific project, but also a symbol of Italy’s capacity to innovate and make a tangible contribution to the global energy transition."

DTT’s participation at Expo 2025 represented an important step in consolidating the project’s international visibility and strengthening collaborations with the research and industrial sectors worldwide.
