Call for tender for the DTT Vacuum Vessel

Today 28 June 2023, the call for tender for the construction of the DTT Vacuum Vessel and some accessory components was published.

The Vacuum Vessel, doughnut-shaped, hermetically sealed, AISI 316LN steel, is the container devoted to provide the high-vacuum environment to house the nuclear fusion reactions. In addition, the Vacuum Vessel contribute to shielding action and plasma stability, acts as primary confinement barrier for radioactivity, and provides support for in-vessel components, including the First Wall, the Divertor and the In-vessel Coils, instrumentation.

The main figures of the Vessel are: outer diameter 7 m, inner diameter 2.5 m, high 3.9 m, interior volume 75 m3, weigh 45 tons.

Due to the complexity of the system, the role that it is called upon to play within the machine, the expected cost for its acquisition, the tender of the Vessel represents a crucial milestone in the realization of the DTT project.
