DTT Poloidal field coils tender published

Today, November 25, 2024  a new tender was issued for the supply of six superconducting Poloidal Field Coils (PFCs) for the DTT fusion facility.

These coils, numbered 1 to 6 from top to bottom, are paired:

  • Smaller coils (PF1 and PF6): Made with Nb3Sn conductors
  • Larger coils (PF2, PF3, PF4, PF5): Made with NbTi conductors

The PFCs are crucial for confining the plasma, enabling DTT to test various magnetic configurations relevant for power exhaust studies.

The PF6 coil will be the  first component to be installed on the cryostat base.

The PF5 and PF4 coils will be  pre-assembled on the cryostat base before Toroidal Field coil assembly.

The PF2, PF3, PF4, PF5 coils will be the largest components to be delivered to the DTT site, requiring specialized transportation.

The tender is divided into two lots according to the superconductor type. The total contract duration is of 48 months from the Kick-off Meeting.

A Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR) meeting it is expected within 24 months after KoM.

The bidders will have time up to January 20, 2025 -  h. 23:59 (CET) to present their offers.

The deadline for the request of clarifications is January 10, 2025  - h. 12:00 (CET).
